What is a JAW (L-type) coupling
The JAW coupling (L-series) is a flexible coupling with two identical cast-iron hubs featuring projecting jaws, between which a star-shaped elastomer spider is fitted. The spider absorbs shock loads and vibration, while the hubs transmit torque directly through the jaws of the elements.
The compact design and low moment of inertia make this coupling type a preferred choice for precision drives — servo motors, stepper motors, pumps and small gearboxes — where minimal backlash in torque transmission is required, and this coupling type is also one of the most cost-effective solutions in such cases.

Frequently asked questions
What drives suit a JAW coupling?
Precision, compact drives with low inertia — servo drives, stepper motors, pump and fan units, small gearbox lines.
Can the elastomer spider be replaced separately?
Yes — the spider is a wear part and can be replaced without dismantling the shafts, provided there is sufficient radial access.
What is the price of a JAW coupling?
